Dyslexia Screener: Dyslexia Screener is a computer-based test, designed to help teachers to identify learners with Dyslexic tendencies. It’s appropriate for learners of all ages. Six activity areas cover non-verbal reasoning, phonological awareness, spelling, visual search, reading, and verbal reasoning. As an initial diagnostic tool, it enables you to distinguish between poor reading ability and dyslexia, and gives advice on next steps.

 

Dyscalculia Screener: Dyscalculia is sometimes called number blindness, a condition that affects our ability to acquire arithmetic skills. Dyscalculic learners can have difficulties understanding simple number concepts. They lack an intuitive grasp of numbers, and have problems learning number facts and procedures. Emotional Literacy Screener (Ages 7-11): Emotional Literacy Screener is a new assessment kit designed to measure a child's emotional literacy, and offer ideas for intervention. ‘Emotional Literacy’ is defined as the ability for students to recognize, understand, express, and handle their own emotions, and the expressed emotions of others. This Screener identifies the status of a student’s emotional literacy and provides follow-up activities for intervention in targeted areas. The assessment covers: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills.

 

Emotional Literacy Screener (Ages 11-16+): This screener identifies the status of emotional literacy of older students. It also provides follow-up activities for intervention where necessary. The assessment covers elements of emotional literacy including: self-awareness, emotional resilience, motivation, and handling of emotions and relationships.

 

Sensory Screener - SNOEZELEN Sensory Profiling and Assessment Tool: This is the most comprehensive profiling tool developed for sight, sound, movement, smell, taste, and touch. Vision Screener

This is a computerized vision screening system. It provides a simple, straightforward method of detecting possible vision problems in six critical areas: Far Acuity, Near Acuity, Depth Perception, Colour Vision, Macular Health, and Eye Movement. The program provides video demonstrations of vision screening procedures to help users understand proper techniques. However, it is NOT a substitute for regular visits to an optometrist or ophthalmologist.

 

Alternative Keyboards

Frogpad One Hand Keyboard

The Frogpad can be used with a computer by persons who have good use of only one hand. It has been designed for fast data entry using the natural drumming motion of the hand and the letter layout is based on the percent usage of each letter in the English language. Fifteen letters that are used 86% of the time by typists are placed in the most efficient locations on the keyboard.

It is available for left hand or right hand with option of connection to the computer by USB port or Bluetooth port. It can also be used with USB/ Bluetooth compatible Laptops, PDA's, Pocket PCs, Tablet and Wearable PC's, and other mobile devices.

 

 

QualiKey On-Screen Keyboard

Unlike the regular PC keyboard, IntelliKeys is a touch sensitive flat touchpad whose look and functionality is changeable by sliding in different overlays. Keyguards are plastic frames designed to be clipped on top of standard overlays that come with IntelliKeys as well as custom overlays and are meant for use by students with limited motor skills struggling to select the correct keys on overlays. 20 Keys Programmable Keyboard

This keyboard has 20 keys which are reprogrammable by the user for ‘One button’ access to perform tasks that require multiple keystrokes thus limiting the number of keys required to be pressed. Each key can be programmed to handle macros or a number of key sequences which is very simple & easy to set. For e.g. to use the Copy-Paste function, the shortcut key is CTRL+C and then CTRL+V, which can be programmed on this keyboard to just one key. This keyboard is very useful for those who have limited use of their fingers or have one hand or a motor disability.

Foot Pedals act as a three-button programmable keyboard used in conjunction with your regular keyboard. It lets your feet take over lengthy, awkward or painful repetitive keystrokes or mouse clicks. A Typing Tutor that teaches touch-typing with One Hand (be it left or right) on a standard QWERTY keyboard for those who have good use of only one hand.

Touch Screens

A touch screen is an electronic device placed over, or built into the monitor of the computer. It allows the user to make a direct selection of an item on the computer screen by touching the screen with a finger or a stylus. It helps focus visual attention and is a more direct response either for early learning of cause and effect or when used in conjunction with an on-screen keyboard.

 

QualiCLICK Software

QualiClick is a solution for persons who are unable to perform the mouse click function but have the ability to only move the mouse, especially those with motor disability.  It automatically performs all the mouse button functions like Single Click, Double Click or Drag & Drop. Instead of clicking the mouse buttons, the user simply rests the mouse over the item to be selected, and after a preset time, QualiClick will automatically perform the selected click for you.

 

QualiEYE Software

QualiEye is an easy-to-understand software for hands-free operation of a computer using a Web Cam to track movements of the head or body parts (head, nose, chin, finger or toe, for example). The web camera converts those movements into mouse pointer movements on a computer screen and performs the clicking action using the built-in QualiClick feature. QualiWorld is a comprehensive software platform designed to help people with a physical disability gain access to today’s most powerful and useful technologies.

It enables disabled and elderly people to achieve a high level of independence through the computer to perform in total privacy some simple daily tasks without the use of a mouse/ keyboard or the assistance of another person.

Mouse control

Auto-Scan: Items on the computer screen are sequentially and automatically highlighted, one after the other. When the desired function is highlighted, the user activates the switch (or left mouse button) to make his selection. User can manage the click of the mouse by any external switch.

Manual-Scan: Items on the computer screen are sequentially highlighted by pressing on the switch. The user can make his selection by keeping the switch pressed (scan with 1 switch) or by activating a second switch (scan with 2 switches).

Radar Mouse: A coloured line (from the centre to the border of the screen) scans the computer screen (360°). With any external switch, the user can stop the line with a click. An animated cursor starts moving from the centre of the screen following the line. When the cursor reaches the desired function (intersection), user activates the switch and makes his selection.

XY Mouse: A horizontal line scans the computer screen from top to bottom. When the line reaches the height of desired button, the user activates the switch and the line stops moving. A vertical line starts the scanning from left to right, and when it reaches the desired intersection point (button), the user can activate the switch to make his selection.

Direction Mouse: the cursor is moved using one of the 8 arrows pointing in different directions (up, down, left, right, 4 oblique directions). Arrows are highlighted sequentially, user clicks on the desired direction and cursor begins moving. A second click stops the cursor.

Tracking Mouse: The cursor on the screen is controlled by simple head movements. A standard USB WebCam captures user's movements and the software translates them into onscreen cursor movement, in real time. Users do not have to attach anything to their body.

Mouse Click Control

Auto-click: Stops the cursor on the desired function or command button and the click is automatically activated by the system.

Gesture Recognition: Uses a body gesture to perform the click on the selected button (Tracking Mouse).
